The burgesses of Newcastle-under-Lyme request that the king confirm their charters, and confirm that they hold their town for a fee farm of 40 marks, as this sum has never before been specified in their charters.They also request that they not be made to serve on inquests or assizes outside their town, or that outsiders serve on such bodies inside their town.
