Nature of request
John Belle requests that the king order the officials of Hull to release a ship of Flanders taken at sea contrary to the recent truce, along with all the goods and mariners on board.
Nature of endorsement
On 4 December in the twenty-first year, it was agreed by the council to issue writs regarding the return of such goods if the claims are true, and that they find sufficient surety to make restitution at the next march day on the Scottish march to hear the complaint. And if they do not make such restoration they should appear before the council on the morrow of Hilary next to explain. By the Chancellor, the Bishop of St Davids, the Treasurer, Keeper of the Privy Seal, the Clerk of the Rolls, Ralph Selby and Laurence Dun.
