Council.
Nature of request
William Chaundeler states that he was thrown out of his house in Southampton by Bradeweye with the assent of his wife, Helen, and forced to flee the town in fear of his life, leaving behind all his goods. He was also made to enter a bond with them and Gate, promising that he would bring no actions against them, but would instead live in Hastings as a hermit, never returning to Southampton. He requests that Helen, Bradeweye and Gate be summoned before the council to answer these matters, and that he be restored to his goods and chattels, and receive suitable compensation.
Nature of endorsement
[None]
Places mentioned

Hastings, [Sussex].
People mentioned
Richard Bradeweye of Southampton
Richard [II], King of England
Helen [Chaundeler], wife of the petitioner
John Gate.
Note
Dated on the guard to? c. 1400. The petition refers to events of Easter 1398, and clearly dates from after Richard II's deposition, but the lack of reference to Richard II's soul might possibly suggest he was still alive at the time.
