Nature of request
John Covent states that lately, in the time of truce, he brought his fishing boat with its crew to fish for herring off the coast of Great Yarmouth, when two ships of Colchester and Bawdesy, of which Couper and Fyn were masters, attacked them, seizing their ship and taking their herring to Kirkley Road, where they sold them. He states that this was contrary to the terms of the truce, and requests that the council issue orders to Lord Morley, keeper of Great Yarmouth, and the bailiffs of the town, ordering the masters to return his ship and his crew, and the goods on board the ship when it was taken.
Nature of endorsement
On 25 October in the fifth year, being present in the council the Chancellor, Treasurer, Keeper of the Privy Seal and John Cheyne, it was agreed that writs be addressed to Lord Morley and the bailiffs of Yarmouth, ordering that delivery be made to the petitioner of the ship and goods taken, as specified in this petition.
