Nature of request
The petitioners state that they took at sea certain bales of cloth and other goods from men of Spain armed against them, and that these are now in the keeping of the mayor of Plymouth and others in Plymouth and Ashburton. They request letters to the mayor and others, ordering them to return the goods to the petitioners, who will keep them safe until the king decides what should be done with them.
Nature of endorsement
Make a writ to Pollard, Bentele and Venour, ordering them to show the bales to Lambourne and make indentures with him, and to keep them safe, upon pain of £1000 until the matter is discussed by the king and council as to whom the goods belong. And also another writ be sent to Lambourne, ordering him to oversee this and make indentures as noted.By the Privy Council, the Chancellor, the Keeper of the Privy Seal, John Scarle, Prophete
