Nature of request
The petitioners request that, on account of the costs and damages incurred by them in the king's service, they be granted livery of the goods in a ship taken by them on the seas on its way to sustain the king's enemies in Scotland, and orders be issued to the mayor of Hull to allow this.
Nature of endorsement
Memorandum that on 10 June [1402] in the council, the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Bishop of Exeter, chancellor, the Bishop of Bath, Treasurer, the bishop of Hereford, the bishop of Bangor, the Bishop of Rochester, the Keeper of the Privy Seal, J. Scarle, Prophet, J. Doreward, and J Frome agreed that a writ be sent under the great seal to the sheriff of Yorkshire and the mayor of Hull, ordering them to take surety in excess of the value of the goods mentioned, and make restitution of the goods or their value to those to whom they appertain, allowing the petitioners to take their profit.
