Description
Petitioners

Addressees
Council.
Nature of request
The merchants of Genoa resident in London recount that their goods were laden in Spain in a Genoese ship captained by Centurion for coming to London. The ship was sailing by the coast of Portugal when two English ships, one Polymond's and the other from the north, offered to keep company with them to London. After being two days together as friends the English, claiming that the petitioners' goods were enemies' goods, captured their ship and brought them to Southampton. And although, at the petitioners' suit, the mayor, bailiffs and customers of Southampton and Polymond were ordered by the King's letters of privy seal to deliver up the ship and goods, they did not. The petitioners, who have found pledges, request that their ship and goods be delivered to them in London.
