Nature of request
The merchants of Bordeaux request that whereas they are in Flanders with their goods and merchandises because they have no patent or other surety and dare not load or take these goods out of Flanders to Bordeaux except by way of England, that they be granted a patent that they shall be quit of all impositions on the merchandises which they bring from Flanders to England, without buying or selling any of them, in order to seek passage to Bordeaux.
Nature of endorsement
On 16 March the council agreed that a patent should be made to the petitioners that all goods and merchandises which they buy in Flanders to bring into Gascony without selling them in England, can be brought into England, unloaded and reloaded without paying the subsidy of 6d. per pound to the King, provided that none of the said goods are sold in England or elsewhere, except Gascony.
