[The petition is damaged and in places illegible.]The dean and chapter of Exeter recount that at the last parliament at Westminster ... that the deans and chapters should have the freehold of their manors ... by which the petitioners were seised of the lands and tenements which ... farms to Philip and Joan Smale jointly, to Ordel and his wife jointly, ... jointly, to Grede and his wife jointly, and to many others, and some of them ... other people in disinheritance of the church of Exeter ... they have gathered great companies of armed men against the peace ... and have caused great alarm to Saxton, Brok ... and Feriby and to their ministries in these parts. The petitioners request that ... atte Mille, Forester, Grede, Potter and John ... be ordered to appear before the council to answer to the King and council, the dean and chapter and each of the canons named above.
Nature of endorsement
A writ should be sent to Molyns, Grede, Potter and each of them to be before the council on the quinzaine of Michaelmas next.
