Nature of request
Allerthorp and Danyell recount that they and others purchased from Everingham the manor of Skegby, in which they were enfeoffed, have been peacefully seised for a long time, and are recognized as the lords by their tenants, and that Everingham then released and quitclaimed the same manor to them and has been paid all that he should according to their agreement. Nevertheless lately Everingham wrongfully entered the manor and removed the petitioners and other lords, so that none of them dare to remain in or enjoy the manor, and he has so menaced the tenants that they dare not pay their rents or do service to their rightful lords, and because the same tenants will not obey Everingham's orders he has distrained them, chased their beasts out of the manor, and is keeping them all under arrest until they pay him their rents. The petitioners request that a writ be directed to Everingham to appear before the King and council to answer for his actions.
