Description
Petitioners
John de Hastings, son and heir of John de Hastings.
Name(s)
de Hastings, John
Addressees
Council.
Nature of request
John de Hastings, being under age, states that the King by his letters patent granted him all wastes, destructions and exiles made in the castle and county of Pembroke, the castle and lordship of Cilgerran, the commote of Ystlwyf and the lordship of St Clears and Traean, which are of his inheritance and in the wardship of Beauchamp until his full age. A commission was issued from the Chancery to inquire of the wastes, destructions, damages and exiles in the said places. Notwithstanding this grant and inquest, the King, despite his letters patent to the petitioner, has by his letters patent pardoned to Beauchamp all the wastes, destructions and exiles and granted that he hold them until the petitioner's full age. The petitioner requests that the letters patent to Beauchamp be repealed, and that justice be done to him.
Nature of endorsement
A writ of scire facias should be sent to Beauchamp to appear in Chancery at the quinzaine of St Hilary next to explain why he should not lose the wardship and that the King should not lose the fine as the law wills.
