Nature of request
Heton recounts that he has recovered 1000 marks for his damages by an obligation made by Fenwick, who is liable to imprisonment for making fine to the King, and is now sheriff of Northumberland where Heton should have execution. By virtue of which office Fenwick will be removed from the execution. Heton requests that Fenwick be discharged from his office and that Percy, Lilbery or Maners be sheriff, and that writs be sent to Fenwick, Boynton and to Alan and John Fenwick ordering them to appear before the council so that the petitioner and Halywell can have sufficient surety of peace.
Nature of endorsement
On 20 June in the 22nd year (1399) the council agreed that writs under the great seal should be made to the justices of the peace for Northumberland to take surety of peace from each of the people named within, on pain of £100, as well as to ensure those same people appear before the council on the morrow of the Exultation of the Holy Cross next, on pain of £1000, to answer in this matter.
