Nature of request
The mayor, constables and merchants of the Calais staple request remedy against Allington, who was owed custom by some of their companions from diverse countries who were absent from Calais, and planned to have the petitioners pay the custom when they owe nothing. He has also prevented wool of their companions from leaving Calais until all the custom has been paid. The petitioners also request that writs of the Chancery be directed to the lieutenant of Calais and Allington ordering them to cease troubling the petitioners.
