Nature of request
Galeon recounts that he came to Stamford on the Thursday before Mid-Lent last and was in his chamber in Bond's hostelry when Aunterons and other men came with force and arms at night and, with the assent of his host, beat him to near death, stole money from him, and took him to the chamber of Gray, who was also staying there, and forced him to repeat that he pardoned Gray and others all their trespasses against him, which he did not want to do. The petitioner then left that hostelry and went to another, leaving behind £40 of the King's gold, a spear, a shield, four horses and three saddles which he had left in Bond's safe-keeping. On the Sunday next Aunterons came to Stamford with 60 archers intending to kill the petitioner. Galeon requests that Aunterons and Bond be made to appear before the council to answer for their actions.
