Nature of request
Eymer states that he entered the church of Burford through Forstier, his proctor, who wanted him to have possession according to the true title. However, Welles and Dyere who had plotted against the petitioner's right, came with a great number of armed men and took Forstier and put a rope around his neck and threatened him, before taking him to Thornbury, imprisoning him and not allowing him to go until they he agreed to cease this suit. When Eymer came to his vicarage, he was met by about 200 armed men, intent on killing him, but he was saved by two good men. He has since been unable to return, or to plead his right, and requests assistance.
