Thomas and Hugh Hasylden request remedy and that Smalpas appear before the council to answer for his actions on 22 May in the twenty-first year (1398) when he lay in wait with 50 armed men to kill the petitioners, who were riding to Haddenham, and assaulted them and drew the bridge so that they could not cross and were in fear of their lives, and on 8 January in the twenty-second year (1399) when he lay in wait with 60 armed men to kill Thomas Hasylden, the petitioner, and his brother Richard, who were riding from the manor of Coveney to Cambridge to hold sessions of the peace.
