Nature of request
Despayne requests recovery of the manor of Braham, which he purchased from Hartlington for 200 marks and occupied peacefully for four years until Hartlington, Chamber, Pensax and others disseised him and took his goods worth £200. Despayne brought an assize of novel disseisin, pending which Pensax and 25 others attacked him at night at his house so that he feared for his life, and they made a tomb for him in Brame wood intending to bury him alive.
