Nature of request
Writ of Edward II to the keeper of the forest of Middlesmoor in Nidderdale that he at the day and place to be made known to him by Herlaston and Aldeburgh, he should attend the inquisition to say what is to the king's best interest concerning the complaint made by petition by John, abbot of Byland concerning the forest of Middlesmoor in Nidderdale, which he and his predecessors have held since the fine of Roger de Mowbray until the forfeiture of John de Mowbray when the forest was taken into the king's hand.
