Nature of request
Inquisition held at Stafford before Carles and Hanbury, the jury stating that Mere held the manor of Bradwell from Audley, and following his death Audley took the manor into his hands because of the minority of Sale. Russel claimed part of the land and with the aid of the earl of Lancaster ousted Audley. Russel enfeoffed the earl with the same and he granted it to Melton for his life. The tenements are now in the king's hand by the forfeiture of the earl. They state that Sale is next heir and is aged 23 years.
