Nature of request
Inquisition held at Knaresborough before Doncaster and Hopton, the jury finding that Roos was obliged to Mauleverer in a sum of £200 in order to secure the surrender of Karesborough Castle, and that the people of the liberty of Knaresborough and of the wapentake of Claro ought to contribute as it was their country that was spared by the surrender and obligation.
