Nature of request
Ros requests remedy as Mauleverer is demanding £200 from him for a sum that he became bound in at the request of the commons of the country around Knaresborough Castle, and for the common profit. He and the sheriff of Yorkshire with the power of the country besieged Lilleburn in Knareborough Castle, and because they feared that the castle would be relieved by the Scots they agreed to give Lilleburn safe passage for the surrender of the castle, but Lilleburn refused to satisfy Mauleverer for goods and chattels that Lilleburn had taken from him and for which he was impleaded so at the request of the commons he became obliged to Maulever in the sum.1)
