Nature of request
Writ of Edward II to John de Brompton commanding him to certify the king of the reason for the taking of certain lands of the Beaumonts in Kingston Bagpuize into the king's hand when he was sheriff, the lands being part of the inheritance of Alice Beaumont.1)
Nature of endorsement
By the chancellor.2) Brompton responds that when he was sheriff he took all of the lands of Robert de la Beche into the king's hand supposing Beche to be a contrariant adhering to his father Philip, and that the lands of William and Alice Beaumont were amongst these, and that all the lands were delivered to Hungerford, keeper of forfeited lands in the county.
