Nature of request
Spaldyng requests that he be granted the keeping of the heirs of Hugh de Garthorp until they are of full age paying the full extent, and that he can have the marriage for a reasonable price so that he can better provide for their sustenance. Hugh de Garthorp died without making provision for his heirs and his lands escheated to the king during their minority, and because his wife was the orphans' aunt he kept them at his own great cost, and the escheator leased the lands to sustain them for a certain term.
Nature of endorsement
He should have it as far as the full age of the heir rendering 50s. per annum to sustain the heir. He should have a commission of the great seal in the accustomed form.
