Nature of request
The petition asks that it might be ordained that no wines brought into the country by foreign merchants should be claimed for the King by the butler or his people, without the custom of 2s. being paid, for if the wines are the King's and the custom paid, he will lose nothing. And they request a writ on this to all collectors of customs.
