Nature of request
Laurence de Preston states that he holds the manor of Gretton in the Forest of Rockingham in fee farm of the King, and that he and his ancestors have had their wood as part of the manor, and have had housebote and haybote there, without any minister of the forest taking anything from that wood without permission; until the time of Simon de Drayton, Constable of Rockingham castle, who has not allowed him to have housebote and haybote without being attached, and has cut wood in his wood at pleasure. He requests a remedy.
Nature of endorsement
The Constable is to be ordered to allow Lawrence to have housebote and haybote as he should have and as his ancestors had. And with regard to cutting wood in his own wood, he is to have a writ of trespass at common law.
