Reference
SC 8/202/10053
Date
[c. 1332]
Description
Petitioners
Lopborgoign (Loup Bergunh) de Bordeux (Bordeaux, Bordeu).
Name(s)
de Bordeux (Bordeaux, Bordeu), Lopborgoign (Loup Bergunh)
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Lopborgoign de Bordeux states that he was retained on Edward II's council in Gascony, and that afterwards John Darci and William Santz, Lord of Pomers, have retained him on the present King's council in the same way, and John de Haustede, formerly Seneschal of Gascony, has approved and confirmed this appointment, as appears from his letters patent, sealed with the seals of the court of Gascony and of John Darci and William Santz, Lord of Pomers. He asks the King to confirm these letters patent by his letters patent.
Nature of endorsement
A letter is to be written to the Seneschal and Constable to inform themselves if he has an office because of which he should remain on the King's council: and they are to inform the King.
Places mentioned
Bordeaux, [Guyenne, France]
Gascony, [France].
People mentioned
Edward [II], King of England
John Darci (Darcy)
William (Guilhem) Santz [de Pomers], Lord of Pomers
John de Haustede, Seneschal of Gascony.
Note
A Latin summary of a very similar petition is enrolled on a roll of petitions from Easter 1328 (Rot. Parl. Hac. Ined. p.182; PROME parliament of April 1328, introduction). This petition would seem to be slightly later, as the Complete Peerage states that John Darcy and the Lord of Pomers were commissioned to treat with the nobles of Aquitaine on 27 April 1330. It must also date from after June 1332, when John de Haustede ceased to be Seneschal of Gascony.
