Nature of request
The petitioners state that they have brought three pairs of writs before John Giffard, to give them their heritage from Owen son of Meuryk, which was seized into the King's hand because of a dispute between the heirs about the division of lands. They ask that they might have their right according to the laws and usages of the country, and state that they are all in full agreement, for Builth is a country which holds its court by law in the manner it always has done.

Coram domino rege.Writs are to be issued to the Sheriff of Herefordshire and Roger de Rus that, in the presence of John Giffard or his lieutenant, they are to have Eynon and his brothers come before them, and some people who can advise them on the arguments for the King; and they are to do justice to the parties.

Note
CPR 1281-92 p.512 is dated 29 November 1291 and seems likely to be in response to this petition, although Roger de Burghull seems to have ceased to be Sheriff in May of that year.
