[? c. 1327]
Description
Petitioners
Robert de Clyfford (Clifford).
Name(s)
de Clyfford (Clifford), Robert
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Robert de Clyfford states that all the lands of his inheritance have been jointly leased to him and to Henry de Percy except for the manor of Skipton in Craven, which is held at farm by Percy alone, at the King's pleasure; he asks that he might hold all his lands, Skipton as well as the others, individually at farm, as Percy wishes to be discharged of them.
Nature of endorsement
He is to show in Chancery the commission made on this to Henry and Robert; and when sufficient security has been received from Robert that he will answer etc., another commission is to be made to the same Robert only, as the petition requests.
Places mentioned
Skipton in Craven, [West Riding of Yorkshire].
People mentioned
Henry de Percy.
Note
Percy was granted the keeping of the castle of Skipton on 11 February 1327 (CFR 1327-37, p.7). This petition would seem to date from some time after that.
