Date

Description
Petitioners
People of Feckenham.
Addressees
Treasurer and council.
Nature of request
The people of Feckenham state that the late King gave their manor with its forest to Queen Eleanor, mother of the present King, but because no writ was sent about this from Chancery to the Exchequer, they are still charged with the farm of their manor from the whole period when the Queen and her executors held it. They ask that if it can be found that it is as they say, that they might be discharged from this sum.
Nature of endorsement
The rolls and memoranda of the Exchequer have been searched, and it is found in the roll of the seventeenth year that the King, on 29 April in the seventeenth year, granted to Robert Rose of Feckenham, Richard de Holdebir' and other upright men of Feckenham, the keeping of the manor of Feckenham, at the King's pleasure, paying the King £45 annually at the Exchequer, half at Michaelmas and the other half at Easter. Therefore, if it is found in the rolls of Chancery that King Edward, father of the present King, granted the aforesaid manor to Queen Eleanor, mother of the present King, as this petition claims, then the Treasurer and Barons are to be ordered to acquit these men of the aforesaid farm and the arrears of the same, from the Queen's time.
