Description
Petitioners
Isabella de Wilburgham.
Name(s)
de Wilburgham, Isabella
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Isabella de Wilburgham states that she brought a writ of mort d'ancestor in the last eyre in Kent concerning the manor of Teston, against the Prior of Holy Trinity, Canterbury, because of the death of Walter, her brother's son, who died seised of the manor, under age and in the Queen's wardship, but because the Prior claimed that he had entered the manor by the King's and Queen's deed, in exchange for the town of Sandwich, the justices did not wish to take the assize. Isabella sued to parliament, and was told to have the record of the case brought before the King. The record is now before Roger de Braszoun and his companions. She requests grace and a remedy, for the sake of the Queen's soul.
Nature of endorsement
The King wishes the aforesaid Isabella to bring her assize again before the justices appointed to hold assizes in the aforesaid county, and that they should proceed to hold the assize, notwithstanding the charter, if it is produced etc., but that they should halt before bringing judgment and inform the King in the next parliament after the taking of the aforesaid assize.
