Nature of request
Guy de Beauchaump, Earl of Warwick, states that his ancestors held a messuage and a toll in the vill of 'Suthapenter' of the King in chief, but that the sixth and seventh part of this toll were taken into the King's hand by Malcolm de Harlye, the Escheator, wrongly, as he believes. He requests a writ of inquiry, that is to say, a writ de modo et causa capcionis.

He is to go to Chancery and have a writ there as he requests. And when the manner and cause of the seizure (modo et causa capcionis) etc. have been seen, justice is to be done.
