Up to 1963 microfilms were made up of both selected and rejected files. Thereafter only selected files are preserved on film. In 1984 the unclassified registered files were microfilmed and the original papers do not survive. The filming included documents dating from 1947 to 1982, although the bulk of the material filmed dates from the late 1950s.The folders containing films are not transferred to the Public Record Office until the films have fallen out of general use.
