Nature of request
Gasstes de Koukes makes five requests:1) In compensation for his great losses, he requests a bailiwick called Alagreere in the Agenais for term of life.2) He asks that he might be free of the custom of Bordeaux on the wines of his vines and on what he can have from the country.3) He requests payment of his wages.4) He requests the King's letters to the Archbishop of Bordeaux, asking him to provide a brother of his, who is a clerk, with the first vacant benefice in his diocese.5) He requests some lands and tenements in St-Macaire, which belonged to the King's rebels and which he has been granted for five years in payment of his wages, for term of life.
Nature of endorsement
£40 of Bordeaux, as is said.He is to have the same bailiwick, receiving £40 of Bordeaux annually from the said bailiwick for term of his life so that, if the bailiwick produces more than £40, he is to answer to the Seneschal for the remainder.With regard to . . . the King cannot do it without assent of parliament.With regard to . . . the Seneschal is to be ordered to account . . . for what is found to be due to him.With regard to writing to the Archbishop of Bordeaux, he is to be asked to provide him with a benefice.With regard . . . his wages, he has been answered above.
