Nature of request
Pypard requests that he can have his liberty in his manor of Twyford entirely as his ancestors had it, or that, if this does not please the king, he can have a charter of the liberty paying 6 marks a year. He held the manor but the liberty has been seized by the justices in the last eyre because Giffard was enfeoffed of £40 of land in the manor and was using the liberty without having any warrant to do so. Pypard to save his estate while he awaited the return of the king from abroad he came to the Exchequer and arrented the liberty for 6 marks a year.1)

Coram ipso rege.2) The king grants that the person who has more of the land is to pay more of the rent, if they can reach an agreement; otherwise the sheriff is to have the franchise and answer the king for the farm.
