Description

Name(s)
Marmyon (Marmion), Manser
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Manser Marmyon states that the King presented him to the church of Long Newton, and that he has sued for the presentation to preserve the right of the King, at his great expense, until the King's right was made clear and the Bishop of Durham was ready to give him institution into the church, but that certain people, through a false insinuation made in Chancery, have purchased a writ to the Bishop to stay proceedings in giving him possession of the church, to his ruin and to the harm of the King's right. He requests a suitable remedy, so that he does not lose his advancement, or the King his right.
Nature of endorsement
The Bishop is to be ordered that, notwithstanding the King's writ addressed to him on the matter, he is nevertheless to do justice in this matter as is incumbent on ordinary right in this matter.[There is a further illegible note at the foot of the dorse.]
