[This petition is damaged] William Tuchet shows the King and council that whereas Roger de Morteyn . . . to have and to hold to him and his wife and to the heirs of their bodies, of him . . . alienated the same manor in fee to the Prior of Thornholme . . . statute . . . knew, entered the same manor and held until one Thomas, Prior of . . . arms disseised the aforesaid William, because of which the aforesaid William . . . de Beaufo and his companions, justices of our lord the King, father of the [present] King . . . who took that assize against that same Thomas . . . as appears more fully from the record of the same . . . in respite, and ordered to be seized by the Escheator into the hand of the King . . . to have the record of that assize come before the King to have judgment . . . on a certain day before the King, before which day the aforesaid Thomas . . . nor could it be done with regard to his successor, because of which the aforesaid . . . the law, notwithstanding that the said manor is in the hand . . .
