Nature of request
John Fitz Thomas states that he acknowledged before John Wogan, Justice of Ireland, that, to make peace in the matter of a trespass he committed against the Earl of Ulster, he would give him £120 of land in Connaught and that six men chosen by each were to assess these lands, and other lands belonging to John and to the Earl, under the supervision of two justices, Simon de Ludgate and John de Pounce, who had power to give seisin of the aforesaid lands. But the justices removed three of John's jurors and replaced them with suspect ones, and contrary to their commission, they held an inquest with people suspect to John, and adjudged seisin to the Earl according to this inquest without making a further assessment; and they did not assess the Earl's lands. As they returned their commission and record before the Chief Justice, John has sued to him to redress the errors, but with no success. He requests a writ to the Chief Justice to have the record and process of this matter brought before the [King].
