- The Sheriff of Northumberland states that he has complained to the King about a trespass committed by the burgesses of Newcastle upon Tyne in prejudice of the King and against his peace, outside their liberty, and asks that the inquisition might be taken by upright and law-worthy men of the county, but not from Newcastle, as the whole community is involved in the trespass. He also asks that the justices assigned to take that inquisition might inquire into encroachments and other crimes committed in prejudice of the King and in disinheritance of him, and into trespasses against the peace: and he can inform them of these things.
