Description
Petitioners
Lawrence Parker of Foulridge in Lancashire.
Name(s)
Parker, Lawrence
Addressees
Commons of parliament.
Nature of request
Lawrence Parker of Foulridge in Lancashire states that certain outlaws and people from foreign counties came by night on the Monday after the feast of Mary Magdalene last to a close belonging to him and stole his horses and cattle; and now they are living in the wood and threatening to kill him so that he is afraid to remain in the country. He asks the commons to ask the King and lords to have the Sheriff of Lancashire instructed to make proclamation that the persons named in this petition should appear before the justices of assize at Lancaster to answer to accusations made against them, both for the King and for the party. And if they do not appear, proclamation should be made that they are to appear before the King's council, on pain of forfeiture of all that they can forfeit, and being put outside the King's protection. And that the council may have power by authority of parliament to determine this matter.
Nature of endorsement
