- [Much of this petition is now missing, but the details can be taken from the duplicate.]The petition states that Henry V granted Thomas, Duke of Exeter, the wardship of all the castles, lordships, manors, lands, tenements, rents and services, which belonged to William, Lord Roos, until the majority of John, his son and heir, and that the Barons of the Exchequer are of the opinion that the King should charge the Duke for two rents, in Lincoln and York, which descended to John from Beatrice, wife of Thomas, Lord Roos of Helmsley, whereas the petition thinks that the terms of Henry V's grant were otherwise. The petition asks the commons to ask the King to ordain, by authority of the present parliament, that the Duke should be discharged of any payment to the king of anything he has levied from these rents, and that the Sheriffs of the cities should be discharged of what they have paid the Duke.
