Nature of request
William Morfote, mariner of Winchelsea, states that he is at sea at his own expense with 100 men, to fight the King's enemies, and that he is forbidden to purchase victuals in several places in the land, contrary to reason; and that he has sued to the King for a long time for a pardon for escaping from Dover castle, and for other offences, and without it does not dare to come ashore. He asks the commons to ask the King to grant him his letters patent of pardon.
