Nature of request
Edward, Lord Hastings, states that he has been held in prison for nearly seven years, notwithstanding his appeals and processes to the late King, and his case has still not been determined. He asks the commons to ask the Duke of Gloucester and the lords to appoint commissioners to examine the appeals and processes, and to do justice between him and Reginald Grey, Lord of Ruthin, concerning the Hastings arms. And he asks that he might be released on sufficient security and under wardship to prosecute his appeal.

[On face] [This] bill was delivered . . . Let it be sent to the lords.[On dorse] The King will have the parties appear before his council, and when he has heard their arguments, he will have done for them what reason demands.

Tentatively datable to c. 1425 by the petitioner's reference to having been imprisoned for nearly seven years, although Petitions Relating to Wales pp.332-3 notes that he was not released until 1433.
