Nature of request
Walter, Master of the Hospital of Burton Lazars in England, states that Edward I granted to him and his brethren the wardship of the hospital of St Giles outside London, for them and their successors forever, in exchange for an annuity which they previously received in the Exchequer, and they were seized of this until King Richard, in the thirteenth year of his reign, granted it to John de Macclesfeld, and then to the Abbey of St Mary Graces, so that they are disinherited. They ask that it might be ordained that they are to have the hospital back.
Nature of endorsement
This petition is to be sent to Chancery, and there, when the parties have been called, the Chancellor, with the advice of the justices, is to do right to them by authority of parliament.
