Description

Anthony Hungaryn of Venice.
Name(s)
Hungaryn, Anthony
Addressees
[Humphrey of Lancaster], Duke of Gloucester, and the lords of parliament.
Nature of request
The petitioner states that he was robbed at sea of a carrack by Bartholomew de la Mare and other Genoese, then the enemies of England, because of his good service to Henry V, and that four Lombards appointed by the council to determine this manner adjudged that Ive Cateyn and Godfrey Gentill, who had bound themselves for Bartholomew de la Mare, should pay him 2500 crowns for the carrack, and that Bartholomew should be obliged to pay a certain sum in case of non-payment or further disobedience. The day for payment has passed, and he has not been paid, nor can he have any remedy at the common law. He asks the Duke and lords to ordain, with the authority of parliament, that he might have execution of the sums contained in their letters obligatory, from the goods of the Genoese whose names are contained in the writ attached to this petition, and that he might be aided and remedied as specified in the writ.
