Margery Boys, Ralph Barton and Alice his wife, and Adam Midlyng and Alice his wife, state that in the record and process of an assize of novel disseisin held between them and Amice Knechebole and others, concerning lands in Great Dunmow and High Roding, Essex, one John Boys was described as the brother of Margery, Alice and Alice, through the negligence of the clerks, when he was in fact their father. They petitioned the present King, and received a writ to the justices of Common Bench, to examine the record and process and have it amended if necessary, but this writ has not yet been put into execution. They ask the commons to ask the Duke of Bedford, with the advice and assent of the lords spiritual and temporal in parliament and by authority of the same, to ordain that the errors in the record and process be corrected.
Nature of endorsement
[On face] Let it be sent to the lords.[On dorse] This petition is to be sent to Chancery and the Chancellor for the time being is to have full power by authority of this parliament held at Westminster on 16 October in the seventh year of the reign of King Henry, the fifth since the conquest, to make and ordain such a remedy and redress for the supplicants named in the said petition on the matter contained in the same petition, as will seem best to his wise discretion etc.Be it remembered that on 6 November in the eighth year of the King mentioned above, at the request of the aforementioned Margery, Ralph, Alice, Adam and Alice these tenors were exemplified in due form.
