Note (Additional information about the record)
- From the mention of Robert de Grendon, Sheriff of Shropshire 1318-1322, and the King's father, this petition would seem to date to the early years of the reign of Edward III. Petitions Relating to Wales pp.329-30 dates it to c. 1332, with reference to mention of Welsh attacks on this area in CIM 1307-49 no.1325 (writ dated 16 April 6 Edward III (1332)) and to CPR 1330-34 p.298 (17 April 1332). The tallage mentioned might be that of 1303-4 - a date of thirty years after the tallage of 1312 would seem to be too late for the hand.
