Nature of request
The petition asks that a writ might be sent to the Mayor and bailiffs of each port to seize all ships of that port and coming to that port from other places, so that they may be ready and equipped to serve the King in war and to assemble on a date to be given by the King or his admiral; and that no ship should leave any port before that date, on pain of forfeiture of the ship and of all else [its owners] can forfeit.
