Nature of request
Letter to Edward II from the Bishop of Lincoln, informing him that Richard de Gerlethorp, who, falsely accused of a crime, had sought sanctuary in Lincoln cathedral, has been violently abducted from there and imprisoned in the Abbot of Selby's prison at Selby, and that the Abbot's bailiffs are refusing to deliver him. He asks the King to order the Abbot and his bailiffs to return him.
