Nature of request
John de Waltham asks that, with the assent of the Abbot and convent of Westminster, he might have custody of the manor of Doddington in Lincolnshire, held of the abbey of Westminster by knight service, and in the King's hand because of the death of John Pygot and Elizabeth his wife and the minority of their heir, and because the temporalities of the abbey are in the King's hand, and that he might also have the marriage of the heir without disparagement, and of each heir until one comes of age, without paying anything for this, in aid of the expenses of his office.
Nature of endorsement
[On face] This bill was granted by the King at Westminster on 28 November in the seventh year of his reign, and afterwards on 30 November in the same year John Scarle, one of the clerks of the King's Chancery, . . . sent by the Chancellor to the Abbot and convent of Westminster to more fully know their intention concerning the contents of the petition, reported orally that the Abbot and convent unanimously assented to everything contained in the petition.
