Nature of request
William de Antyngham, cutler, states that he is held in the Fleet prison on the orders of the justices of Common Pleas, in order to recover damages from him in a plea of trespass at the suit of Thomas de Witteslegh; and now the record and process of the plea have been sent before the King at William's suit, because of errors contained in them. He asks that the Chancellor might be ordered to send a writ under the great seal to William Scott and his companions, justices appointed to hold pleas before the King, to examine the record and process and to summon William before them, and release him on a sufficient security to answer to Thomas de Witteslegh for the damages and for what pertains to the King, so that he can be free to sue his writ of error.
